“Small towns are great for learning to adapt to a new culture.  You have better opportunities to meet new people and learn about the new culture.  My school is located in a beautiful valley amongst the mountains.  I have made some new friends because the students are nice.  It is a safe environment.  Every day I improve my English skills in the Learning Centre.  I really like studying and being in School District 82.”

Nikolay, International Student

Hi everybody. My name is Kim, I am 16 years old, and I am an international student from Vietnam. I will tell everyone about my experience having been in Canada so far.  This is my first time studying and living in Canada, everything is completely strange to me, I am not fluent in English, so at first, I was afraid to go to school. The school here is completely different from the school in Vietnam, the culture is very different. In the first days of studying here, I didn’t know what to do at all, what people said, I couldn’t fully understand what they meant. But fortunately, everyone here is very friendly, and kind,  Teachers and friends are all dedicated to helping me in my studies. At school, I am now learning a lot and experiencing many things and I am learning about myself.   My English and academic performance have also improved a lot since I first started.
